DIN 1.2738 P20+Ni 718 3Cr2MnNiMo Hot Rolled Plastic Mould Steel Plate
1: DIN 1.2738 Steel Introduction
DIN 1.2738 is specially used for Plastic injection die moulds. The characteristics of a material are right sharpening, photo-etching properties with high purity and good homogeneity. DIN 1.2738 is upgraded version of plastic mold steel 0f 1.2311, which normally supply in Pre hardened condition. Hardness in as supplied condition 280-320 HB with having uniform hardness. The additional nickel content of 1 % increases through hardening. It has good machinability, suitable for Texturing, fine polishability, adequate corrosion resistance, vacuum-degassed steel.

The mechanical properties mainly include tensile strength, yield strength, elongation, area or reduction, hardness, impact value, non-metalic inclusion etc. Different heat treatment, the mechanical properties will be different, such as normalized, tempered, QT. 7: DIN 1.2738 Steel Application
DIN 1.2738 is applicable for large & small plastic mould dies for Automotive Industries, Dies for Domestic goods , High finishing plastic Die, Boaster Plates of Presses, Die Holders & Shoe blocks for drop Hammers, Press Cassettes , Upsetter Blocker, forging dies, Different dies & mold for plastic products etc.
8: DIN 1.2738 Steel Heat Treatment
Already pre-toughened; usually no heat treatment required
Soft annealing:
710 to 740 °C for about 2 to 5 hours; slow controlled cooling of 10 to 20 °C per hour to about 600 °C further cooling in air, max. 220 HB
Hardening:
840 to 870 °C
15 to 30 minutes keeping curing temperature
quenching in oil/hot bath/air 180 bis 220 °C
obtainable hardness: 53 HRC
Tempering:
slow heating to tempering temperature immediately after hardening; minimum time in furnace: 1 hour per 20 mm part thickness; tempering twice is recommended.

10: Delivery Condition
For hot forged bar, usually the delivery condition is hot forged, annealed rough turned/Black surface.
For hot rolled bar, usually the delivery condition is hot rolled, annealed, Black surface.
For hot forged plate, usually the delivery condition is hot forged, annealed, milled surface
For hot rolled plate, usually the delivery condition is hot rolled, annealed, black surface.
