DIN 1.6723 EN39/835M15 Steel Plate/Sheet
1: BS EN39 Steel Introduction
EN39 is a 4.5% nickel, chromium, molybdenum grade, suitable for case hardening to give a case resistant surface with a high core strength up to 1310 N/mm2. This grade is commonly supplied as round bar. EN39A and EN39B are common standards for this grade.

The mechanical properties mainly include tensile strength, yield strength, elongation, area or reduction, hardness, impact value, non-metalic inclusion etc. Different heat treatment, the mechanical properties will be different, such as normalized, tempered, QT. 7: BS EN39 Steel Application
EN39 is used for high duty gears, heavy duty worms, heavy roller bearings, breech mechanisms, small arms components, camshafts, clutch plates, valve rockers.
8: BS EN39 Steel Heat treatment
Hardening / ℃ : 800 - 820;
Sub-Critically annealed / ℃ : 277;
Normalized and Tempered / ℃ : 269.
9: BS EN39 Steel Delivery condition
For hot forged or hot rolled bar, usually the delivery condition is hot forged, annealed/QT, rough turned/Black surface or hot rolled, annealed/QT, Black surface.
For hot forged block, usually the delivery condition is hot forged, annealed/QT, milled surface/Black surface
For hot rolled plate, usually the delivery condition is hot rolled, annealed/QT, black surface.
For cold drawn bar, usually the delivery condition is cold drawn, annealed/QT, peeled/black surface.
