DIN 34CrMo4/1.7220 QT Alloy Structrural Steel
1: 34CrMo4 Steel Introduction
34CrMo4 has high rupture strength and creep strength at high temperature, good impact toughness at low temperature, good hardenability, no tendency to overheat, small quenching deformation, good plasticity and workability at cold shape. Poor weldability, need preheating before welding, heat treatment and stress relief after welding, generally used after quenching and tempering treatment, also can be used after high and medium frequency surface quenching or quenching and low and medium temperature tempering.

7: 34CrMo4 Steel Application
34CrMo4 is mainly used as important structural parts working under high load, such as transmission parts of vehicles and engines; rotor, main shaft, heavy load transmission shaft of steam turbine generator, large-section parts 34CrMo4 are used to manufacture forgings requiring higher strength and larger quenching and tempering section than 35CrMo steel. For example, large gear for locomotive traction, supercharger transmission gear, rear axle, extremely loaded connecting rod and spring clamp, 34CrMo4 can also be used for drill pipe joint and fishing tools in deep oil wells below 2000m.
8: 34CrMo4 Steel Heat Treatment
Normalizing: 850 - 880°C, air cooled
Soft annealing: 650 - 680°C, furnace cooled, max. hardness 223 HB
Hardened: 830 - 890°C, quenched in oil or water
Tempering: 540 - 680°C, air cooled

10: Delivery Condition
For hot forged bar, usually the delivery condition is hot forged, annealed rough turned/Black surface.
For hot rolled bar, usually the delivery condition is hot rolled, annealed, Black surface.

For hot rolled plate, usually the delivery condition is hot rolled, annealed, black surface.
