1: 16MnCr5 Steel Introduction

16MnCr5 is a low carbon alloy steel, this steel is quenched and tempered to obtain a high hardness, usually between HRC50-55, which gives it excellent Wear resistance and corrosion resistance.The mechanical properties of 16MnCr5 steel are also excellent, with high yield and tensile strength while maintaining good toughness. It also has good machinability and can be processed and shaped by various machining methods (e.g., cutting, milling, drilling, etc.). This enables it to be manufactured into parts of various complex shapes and sizes.

7: 16MnCr5 Steel Application

16MnCr5 steel is used in the automobile manufacturing industry to manufacture various transmission parts, such as gears, shafts and bearings. These parts need to withstand high loads and high speeds, so the material is required to have high strength and wear resistance. It is also commonly used in automobile chassis and suspension system parts, such as springs, connecting rods, etc. These parts require good toughness and fatigue strength. In the machinery manufacturing industry, 16MnCr5 steel is used in the manufacture of a variety of parts that require high precision and high strength, such as machine tool drive shafts, fixtures and so on. It is also suitable for the manufacture of a variety of mechanical equipment to withstand heavy loads and impact parts, such as excavators, cranes, etc.


8. 16MnCr5 Steel Heat Treatment

Quenching: During quenching, the workpiece is heated to an appropriate temperature and then cooled rapidly to increase the hardness. For 16MnCr5 steel, the quenching temperature is usually between 850-880 degrees Celsius. After quenching, the hardness and strength of the steel will be significantly increased, but the brittleness will also increase accordingly.

Tempering: Tempering is the process of reheating the workpiece after quenching and then cooling it. This process reduces the brittleness of the steel and increases the toughness. For 16MnCr5 steel, the tempering temperature is usually between 150-200 degrees Celsius. After tempering treatment, the hardness and strength of the steel will be slightly reduced, but the overall performance will be improved.

Normalizing: Normalizing is at 950~1150 degrees Celsius to make the two-phase organization yield, which can enhance the plastic mechanical properties, but also helps to improve the uniformity of the internal structure.

10: Delivery Condition
