DIN C45W/1.1730 Carbon Hot Work Tool Steel
1: C45W Steel Introduction
C45W is an all-static steel made by electric furnace, open hearth furnace or pure oxygen converter. It has excellent processability and homogeneous microstructure. The steel is affordable, easy to process, suitable for high-frequency quenching, flame quenching and other surface hardening treatment. The carbon content of the steel is ≥ 0.4, the wear resistance is good, but ductility is reduced, quenching is easy to deformation and cracking, so quenching is important, and must be quenched after tempering to avoid temper brittleness. The steel is difficult to cut, and it needs to be spheroidized to improve the cutting performance. In principle, the hardness shall be tempered to 19~22HRC. In ord to facilitate machining.
