Product Description
DIN C50/1.0540 High Strength Medium Carbon Steel
1: C50 Steel Introduction
C50 carbon steel is a commonly used medium carbon steel with a carbon content between 0.47% and 0.55%. This steel has good malleability and plasticity, and is widely used in the machinery manufacturing industry. C50 carbon steel has excellent mechanical properties, high strength, good toughness, wear resistance. Specific performance: yield strength as low as 345MPa, tensile strength as high as 650MPa, strength is relatively uniform, section shrinkage is about 25%, hardness is about 170HBW.

7: C50 Steel Application
C50 is generally used under normalizing or quenching and tempering for the manufacture of machined parts and spring parts with high wear resistance requirements and low dynamic loads and impacts, such as forged gears, tie rods, rolls, shafts, friction discs, agricultural digging ploughshares, and heavy-duty mandrels.
8: C50 Steel Heat Treatment
Normalizing: C50 carbon steel is heated to about 850°C and held for a period of time, and then rapidly cooled by water or oil. At this time, the organization structure of C50 carbon steel becomes bainite, and the strength and hardness are greatly improved.
Quenching: C50 carbon steel is heated to about 780 ℃ insulation for a period of time, and then rapid cooling by water or oil. At this time, the organizational structure of C50 carbon steel becomes martensite, with higher strength and hardness, but becomes brittle than after normalizing treatment.
Tempering: The quenched C50 carbon steel is tempered at low temperature to stabilize its organizational structure. At this point, C50 carbon steel retains its high strength and hardness while avoiding brittleness.
