1: S30C Steel Introduction
S30C steel is a high-grade, high-quality carbon structural steel.S30C steel material is manufactured by electric furnace, flat furnace, or pure oxygen converter steelmaking method, with very high wear resistance and toughness, uniform metallurgical organization, and excellent machinability. Its strength and hardenability are higher than that of No. 30 steel, weldability is medium, cold deformation, plasticity and cutting and machinability are good, and it is generally used in normalized condition.

The mechanical properties mainly include tensile strength, yield strength, elongation, area or reduction, hardness, impact value, non-metalic inclusion etc. Different heat treatment, the mechanical properties will be different, such as normalized, tempered, QT. 7: S30C Steel Application
S30C steel is suitable for the following applications:
Manufacture of parts with small cross section and not much force, such as wire rods, tie rods, axle keys, rings, gears, sleeves and so on.
Bolts, screws, etc. machined on automatic machines.
Manufacture of parts requiring cold top forging and welded parts.
Parts for carburizing, carbonitriding, etc.
8: S30C Steel Heat Treatment
Normalizing
The normalizing temperature is set at 880°C. By normalizing, the grain can be refined and the hardness and strength can be improved.
Quenching
The quenching temperature is controlled between 850-900°C and water cooling is used. After quenching, the tensile strength of S30C steel can reach at least 539MPa, the yield strength is at least 333MPa, the elongation is at least 23%, the shrinkage is at least 57%, the impact toughness value is at least 108J/cm², and the hardness range is between 152-212HB.
Tempering
Tempering is carried out at temperatures between 550-650°C, using sharp cooling. Tempering further improves the toughness and overall mechanical properties of S30C steel.

10: Delivery Condition
For hot forged bar, usually the delivery condition is hot forged, annealed/QT, rough turned/Black surface.
For hot rolled bar, usually the delivery condition is hot rolled, annealed/QT, Black surface.
For Cold Drawn bar, usually the delivery condtion is cold drawn, annealed/QT, peeled/black surface.
For hot rolled plate, usually the delivery condition is hot rolled, annealed, milled/black surface.
For hot forged plate, usually the delivery condition is hot forged, normalized/annealed, milled/black surface.
