DIN 1.2379 Tool Steel Forged Round Bar
1: DIN 1.2379 Steel Introduction
DIN 1.2379 steel is a high carbon chromium-molybdenum-vanadium cold work tool steel with excellent wear resistance, good dimensional stability, toughness and hardening properties. Due to its secondary hardening characteristics, it is easily treated with supplemental nitriding and surface coatings. The high chromium content improves its wear resistance and toughness, helping to resist corrosion; vanadium gives the steel a finer grain structure, preventing overgrowth of grains and improving hardenability; and molybdenum increases its high temperature resistance and hardenability, improving its corrosion and wear resistance.

7: DIN 1.2379 Steel Application
Cutting Tools: for high speed drills, milling cutters, planer cutters and knives, etc., providing excellent cutting performance and improving processing efficiency and product quality.
Stamping Tools: can be used to manufacture molds and mold parts, such as punching dies, shear dies and cooling plates, etc., to withstand high pressure and wear, providing stable and reliable mold performance.

8: DIN 1.2379 Steel Heat Treatment
Annealing
At 800~850°C, followed by cooling to 600°C at a cooling rate of 10°C/h, and then air-cooled to a hardness of ≤250HBw.
Hardening
At 975~1040°C, followed by oil or gas cooling.
Tempering
Including low temperature tempering and high temperature tempering. Low temperature tempering temperature is 150~200°C, hardness ≥61HRC; high temperature tempering temperature is 480~540°C, hardness ≥58HRC.

10: Delivery Condition
For hot forged or hot rolled bar, usually the delivery condition is hot forged or rolled, annealed or QT, black surface or rough turned.
For hot forged plate, usually the delivery condition is hot forged, annealed or QT, milled surface.
For hot rolled plate, usually the delivery condition is hot rolled, annealed or QT, black surface.
