SKD11 Tool Steel Pipe Steel Tube
1: SKD11 Steel Introduction
SKD11 is a Japanese JIS standard grade, a high wear-resistant and toughness general-purpose cold work tool steel, a high-carbon, high-chromium alloy tool steel, and a vacuum degassing refined steel. It is a pure steel with good quenching properties, good hardenability, and a small amount of fire deformation in quenching. The steel has been softened by spheroidizing in fire retreats and has good workability, fine and uniform carbide particles, and the addition of the strengthening elements molybdenum and vanadium eliminates the need to be concerned about cracking in fire quenching. High-hardness, high-wear-resistant eutectic carbide uniformity, high toughness, not easy to crack, hardness >62 HRC after fire quenching.

7: SKD11 Steel Application
Used for making shears, shears, circular saws, five-stamping dies, and forming rolls.

8: SKD11 Steel Heat Treatment
Hardening
First, SKD11 steel needs to be preheated to 700 to 750°C, then heated to 1000 to 1050°C and cooled in still air. For steel tools thicker than 6 inches, the preheating temperature is adjusted to 980 to 1030 ℃ and quenched better in oil. The purpose of this step is to increase the hardness and strength of the steel by rapid cooling.
Tempering
The next step is the tempering step where the steel is heated to 150 to 200°C, left at this temperature and then cooled in still air. The tempering process is designed to adjust the internal structure of the steel to reduce the internal stresses and brittleness produced during the quenching process, while maintaining the hardness and strength of the steel and increasing its toughness and wear resistance.
Nitriding
In order to meet the requirement of high surface hardness, SKD11 steel can be nitrided. This step is carried out after quenching and tempering and is designed to improve the surface hardness and wear resistance of the mold.
Deep Cooling Treatment
In order to obtain higher hardness and improve dimensional stability, the molds are subjected to a deep cooling treatment immediately after quenching, with the temperature maintained at -70 to -80°C for 3-4 hours, followed by a tempering treatment. Deep-cooling treatment can increase the hardness of the tool or mold by 1-3 HRC compared with conventional heat treatment.

10: Delivery Condition
