7: SUP7 Steel Application
Automobile, locomotive, large plate spring, spring, etc. SUP7 Spring main used for heavy vehicles, tractors, industrial production load, stress and the diameter of the larger plate spring and helical spring.
8: 9260 Steel Heat Treatment
Annealing
To produce a coarse to fine spheroidal structure, parts should be austenitized at 1400°F (760°C) and then cooled to 1300°F (705°) at a rate of 10°F/hour or alternately cooled to 1225°F (660°C) and held for 10 hours as an isothermal anneal.
Normalizing
1650°F (900°C) and air cool. This will be an important treatment for this grade.
Hardening
Austenitize and quench in water at 1525-1580°F (830-860°C).
Tempering
880-970ºF (470-520ºC).
