1: AISI 1066 Steel Introduction
AISI 1066 steel is a low carbon steel, mainly used in the manufacture of parts requiring high strength and good toughness. Its main smelting process is electric furnace smelting or converter smelting. During the smelting process, parameters such as the amount of alloying elements added and the cooling rate are controlled to ensure that the final material has the desired chemical composition and physical properties.1066 steel exhibits excellent corrosion resistance in corrosive environments, resisting corrosion from acidic, alkaline and oxidizing atmospheres. It maintains its strength and durability at high temperatures.

7: AISI 1066 Steel Application
Spring Manufacturing: Due to its excellent mechanical properties and hardenability, AISI 1066 steel is commonly used in the manufacture of a variety of springs, including flat springs, round springs, seat springs, spring windings, spring coils, valve springs, clutch springs, brake springs and cold-drawn wire cold-coiled coil springs.
Mechanical Parts: Due to its high strength and corrosion resistance, 1066 steel is suitable for the manufacture of mechanical parts in high temperature, high stress and corrosive environments. For example, it can be used to manufacture spindles for grinding machines and other parts that require high wear and impact resistance.
Tool Manufacturing: ASTM 1066 steel is also commonly used in tool manufacturing, particularly in tools that require high hardness and wear resistance. Its high hardness and toughness allow it to maintain good performance when subjected to impact loads.
8: AISI 1066 Steel Heat Treatment
Annealing
1066 steel can be annealed at a temperature of approximately 760°C to improve its plasticity and toughness. Annealed 1066 steel has better workability and ductility.
Quenching
The quenching temperature is usually 830°C ± 20°C, using oil cooling. After quenching, the hardness range is generally between 38~60 HRC.
Tempering
The tempering temperature is 540℃±50℃, and water or oil cooling can be used. Tempering can eliminate internal stresses after quenching and improve the properties of the steel.
Solution Treatment
Solution treatment is carried out at a temperature of about 1150°C to eliminate defects within the alloy and to improve its strength and corrosion resistance.

10: Delivery Condition
For hot forged or hot rolled bar, usually the delivery condition is hot forged or rolled, annealed or QT, black surface or rough turned.
For hot forged plate, usually the delivery condition is hot forged, annealed or QT, milled surface.
For hot rolled plate, usually the delivery condition is hot rolled, annealed or QT, black surface.
