Product Description
Tool Steel 9SiCr Alloy Cold Work Steel
1: 9SiCr Steel Introduction
9SiCr steel is a high-carbon alloy tool steel, good toughness, good tempering stability, heat treatment deformation is small. Its surface residual carbon content of 0.6%-0.7% decarburization layer, due to the reduction of carbide makes the surface layer of superheat sensitivity increases. After quenching by normal heating surface hardness can still reach 60-62HRC, but its bending strength is reduced by 40% -50%.

7: 9SiCr Steel Application
9SiCr steel is suitable for the manufacture of tools with complex shapes, small deformation, high wear resistance and low-speed cutting, such as drills, threading tools, reamers, plate teeth, taps, thread rolling plates and wire rollers. In addition, it is also widely used in the manufacture of larger size, more complex shape and higher precision plastic mold. In the mold manufacturing, 9SiCr steel is commonly used in the production of punching material thickness ≥ 3mm blanking die in the shape of complex convex die concave die inserts.
8: 9SiCr Steel Heat Treatment
Heating
Preheating: Slowly heat the steel to 800-850℃ and keep it for a period of time for even heating to avoid too big temperature difference between the surface and the inside.
Heating to forging temperature: then continue heating to forging temperature, this temperature range is usually between 1050-1150 ℃, but the specific temperature depending on the size of steel and equipment conditions may be adjusted.
Forging
Initial forging: Initial forging is carried out in the temperature range of 1050-1150℃, and rough forming is carried out by using remolding dies.
Re-forging and finish forging: When the temperature drops to 850-950℃, carry out the process of re-forging and finish forging to ensure that the steel obtains a uniform internal organizational structure and dimensional accuracy.
Cooling
Slow cooling: After forging, it needs to be cooled slowly (generally in furnace cooling) to avoid cracks and stress concentration caused by direct rapid cooling.
Control the cooling speed: generally use the furnace cooling or cover the adiabatic material for slow cooling, to prevent uneven organization or quenching stresses occurring during the cooling process.
Annealing
Annealing Temperature: Generally annealed at 750-780℃.
Holding time: The holding time depends on the size of the specific workpiece, and is maintained for sufficient time to ensure a uniform internal structure.
Slow cooling: After annealing, slowly cool to room temperature with the furnace.
Heat Treatment
Quenching: Heating to 810-830°C followed by oil or air cooling.
Tempering: After quenching, tempering treatment is carried out, and the tempering temperature can generally be 150-200°C or higher (adjusted as required) to ensure that the final hardness is within the appropriate range to meet the requirements of use.
