Product Description
Tool Steel 45WCrV7/1.2542 5CrW2Si S1 Alloy Cold Work Steel
1: 1.2542 Steel Introduction
1.2542 steel is a multi-purpose alloy structural steel from Suster Steels Germany with non-deforming wear-resistant properties, appropriate hardness and good toughness. The hardness of the steel can be adjusted to different application scenarios by means of different heat treatments. It is widely used in stamping, shearing and hot forging.

7: 1.2542 Steel Application
1.2542 steel has a wide range of applications:
It is suitable for cold stamping processing of blanking dies and punches. The abrasion and impact resistance of this steel makes it ideal for applications that are subjected to a high level of impact during the stamping process.
for shearing dies and cutting tools. 1.2542 steel's good toughness and appropriate hardness enable it to maintain stable performance during the shearing and cutting process.
For applications such as hot forging die punches. The alloy structure and wear resistance of this steel enables it to withstand hot forging processes at high temperatures and pressures.
8: 1.2542 Steel Heat Treatment
High temperature tempering softening:
The 1.2542 steel billet will be subjected to high temperature tempering softening treatment, the specification of the temperature of 730~750 ℃, the time is 8~10 hours. After softening treatment, the hardness of the steel can be reduced to less than 228 HBS. this treatment can be used for the softening of tungsten-containing die steel billets
Quenching:
The specifications for quenching 1.2542 steel are quenching temperature 860~900℃ and cooling medium 20~40℃ oil. After quenching treatment, the hardness of the steel can reach more than 55HRC.
Tempering:
1.2542 steel tempering specifications for the tempering temperature of 200 ~ 250 ℃, heating medium for oil or molten alkali, cooling medium for air. After tempering treatment, the hardness of steel can be maintained between 53~58 HRC.
