7: 1.2327 Steel Application
1.2327 steel is commonly used in the manufacture of mechanical parts such as high-strength bolts, nuts, bearings and gears, as well as in high-temperature and high-pressure industrial fields such as oil drilling equipment, aviation and spacecraft, nuclear reactors and chemical equipment. Its excellent performance and wide range of applications make 1.2327 steel one of the important and indispensable materials in modern industry.
8: 1.2327 Steel Heat Treatment
Pre-heating: Pre-heating of tool steel to the appropriate temperature, generally recommended in the range of 550°C to 700°C. The purpose of preheating is to raise the material temperature uniformly, to reduce temperature gradients and to facilitate uniformity of subsequent heating and cooling.
Heating: The preheated tool steel is heated to a suitable temperature. The heating temperature varies according to the specific application and requirements, and is generally carried out in the range of 850°C to 1050°C. The temperature of the tool steel must be maintained at a constant level during the heating process. During the heating process, keep the heating rate moderate in order to avoid stress concentrations and distortions caused by too rapid heating.
Holding: After the target heating temperature has been reached, the tool steel is held at that temperature for a period of time to provide uniform temperature distribution within the material in order to achieve the desired organization and properties.
Quenching: Rapid cooling of tool steel to room temperature or lower after heating and holding to obtain high hardness and strength. The quenching medium may be oil, water or gas quenching, and the selection should be based on the thickness and requirements of the tool steel.
Tempering: After quenching has been carried out, the tool steel may be too hard and at the same time highly brittle. Tempering is required to improve the toughness of the tool steel and to relieve internal stresses. The tempering temperature and time can be determined according to the desired hardness and toughness.
